Online Casino Conditions >>> Video Poker Tips >>> The Perfect Mathematical Video Poker Strategy

Although the previous Video Poker Tips page describes the overall video poker strategy, as well as the simplified strategy charts for the different versions of video poker, it is still useful to understand how these charts have been created.  The perfect mathematical strategy for all forms of video poker has been calculated - and has been published in a variety of sources.  However, these strategies are usually made out to be far more complicating and confusing than they need to be.  They are often over-examined and explained so that the gambler is put into their head too much - likely to make common-sense errors that they would have otherwise avoided by using a simplified strategy chart.

There are several reasons why gamblers should not try to follow a perfect mathematical strategy while playing online video poker.  As mentioned, they are far too complicated, taking a form of mathematical concentration and understanding that the majority of gamblers do not know how to exercise.  Secondly, if one of these perfect mathematical strategies were to be broken down, one would see that they really are no better than the strategy charts derived from them.  As you will see, the strategy charts make things simple and easy to follow by eliminating all the superfluous and unnecessary explanations found in so-called perfect mathematics.

For example, a part of Jacks or Better perfect strategy is explained as to draw in this order:

Draw one card if holding four cards to an Outside Straight Flush
Draw one card if holding a Two Pair
Draw one card if holding four cards to an Inside Straight Flush

In actuality, the above guideline can be simplified to say this:

Draw 1 card holding a Two Pair  OR  if holding four cards to a Straight Flush.

Since both hands cannot be held at one time, there is no need to list both inside and outside straight flushes, since both of them are exclusive to a Two Pair.  Furthermore, there is no need to give one preference over the other, making it unnecessary to list one over the other.  The basic strategy charts are simplified in this same manner, taking out any mathematical differences found in the perfect strategy, which otherwise, are essentially negligible when played out.
