Online Casino Conditions >>> Slots Tips >>> Betting the Max at Progressive Slot Machines

Slot machines are one of the biggest commodities in the online casino.  They are exceptionally fun to play, especially with the hope that a giant progressive jackpot could be won on a single spin. However, what many beginning slot players do not realize is that in order to be eligible to win the progressive jackpot, the maximum bet amount must be wagered.  If not, and the winning symbols are hit, the jackpot payout is considerably less.

For instance, most progressive slot machines are multi-line, meaning they have more than one horizontal line of symbol windows to win money (Like having multiple chances to win on a single spin).  Each line usually can be bet with a variety of denominations.  Let's say these denominations are .25, 1.00, 2.00, and 3.00 (max wager).  Let's also say we are playing a 3 line machine.  Now, in order to win the progressive jackpot, a wager of $3 must be put down on each line.  Players can opt to play a single line in one spin or all three lines in a single spin.  In the last case, $9 must be put down ($3 for each line).

This can get expensive, but the payoffs are much greater - even if the progressive is not hit.  If you can't afford this much on a single spin, search for online progressive slot machines with lower max wagers - they exist.

Keep in mind what the payout table is.  It should be posted in a visible place on the playing screen.  At the very least, there will be a button you can click that will reveal the payout table.  Just be sure to study it ahead of time before you start playing any progressive slot, thinking you you might win the progressive jackpot, but all the while exempting yourself because you are not actually betting the maximum wager amount.
