As mentioned in our previous tip, the three types of reel slot machines found
in the casinos are multi-line games (the most common), coin multipliers and
option-buy games. In regards to coin multipliers, these are very popular
machines that do just what their name implies - multiply payouts.
Offering a
single payline, these machines multiply the payout on a single spin according to
the number of coins bet on that spin. If the mathematical relationship is
exponentially exact for each coin, the machine is said to be a true multiplier.
Remember, these are not the same as multiplier symbols, which many video slots
have, but which multiply payouts corresponding to symbol combinations, not coin
amounts.
At most online casinos, the top jackpot on a coin multiplier slot is
higher than the exact multiple if the player bets the maximum amount of coins.
Obviously, this type of machine (called a modified multiplier) is intended to
get players to put more money into the machine. And while there are many players
who say that betting the maximum amount of coins is the best way to go, for
playing non-progressive machines, this is not necessarily true.
A common multiplier
payout ratio that you will likely run across at
online casino sites is a 1:2:4. For instance, a true
multiplier that awards a maximum jackpot of 1,000
coins for a single coin bet, will award 2,000 coins
for a two-coin bet and 3,000 coins for a three-coin
bet. However, with a 1:2:4 payout structure, the
machine would pay out 1,000 coins for a single coin
wager, 2,000 coins for a two-coin wager and 4,000
coins for a three-coin wager. The payout of 4,000
coins makes this a modified multiplier, which is a
tempting offer for most casino gamblers.
Again, betting the
maximum amount of coins is not a wise thing to do on
every spin, for depending on the coin value, this
can contribute to a pretty hefty bet amount and put
a strain on one's bankroll. Remember, slot machines
get spun about 300 to 600 times per hour on average.
Do your math ahead of time and determine how much
you can afford on a single spin.
A good strategy might
be to bet two coins for the majority of your spins,
and occasionally drop a third coin (or whatever the
maximum amount of coins is to hit the modified
jackpot) every so often. Check back tomorrow for our
next tip, as it will go into detail about option-buy
reel slot machines.
