Knowing Your Casino Chips
All table games in online casinos, as well as brick
'n mortar casinos, are played with casino chips.
They are of different colors and denominations, and
sometimes vary depending on the game being played
(such as roulette). It can be confusing
sometimes, when you are looking at your playing
screen and all you can see is a colored chip and are
not sure how much it is worth. The betting
industry, however, has created a standard that most
casinos follow by - although they do not have to.
In land-based casinos, it is much easier to
identify a chip, for they are marked by a monetary
denomination in addition to their color. In
online casinos, the chips usually vary more.
As a general practice, white chips are worth $1, red
chips are worth $5, green chips are worth $25, and
black chips are worth $100. Online casinos
usually have much smaller betting denominations, and
so therefore need more types of chips to cover more
wagers. You are likely to come across yellow
chips and purple chips in the online casinos.
Before you play at any online casino, practice
the software for free at first, letting yourself
become familiar with the different chips, as well as
how to place bets and increase or decrease bet
sizes. That way, when it comes time to play
real money, there will be no confusion as to how
much you have on the table.
