Spanish 21 Strategy is More Than
Basic Blackjack
Spanish 21 is a version
of blackjack that is very similar in structure to
the original game. As such, many blackjack
players think that it is an easy game to master, and
that if they know the Basic Blackjack strategy, they
are in safe waters. However, nothing could be
farther from the truth.
The best strategy for playing Spanish 21 has
major differences than the Basic Strategy - and
although card counting can be successfully employed
the same way at both games, it is a very hard skill
to master, and needs to be complemented with a
general strategy regardless. A new set of
strategy rules are mandatory weapons if a blackjack
player wants to make the crossover to playing
Spanish 21.
There are 25% fewer
10-value cards as well as different bonuses for
holding blackjacks in the Spanish version. As
a result, an entire new set of strategy rules are
necessary. For those who are very familiar
with the Basic Blackjack Strategy, there is a
simplified Spanish 21 strategy that most basic
strategy users find easy to memorize.
This works fine to keep
the Casinos Edge down and a
player on his feet. However, even with the
similarities, there are differences in strategy that
the player needs to keep in mind. Consult a strategy
book for more details.
