Insight on Playing Multiple Online Poker Tables at Once
by Mike Harrison, Strategy and Games Writer

In one of our previous series of online casino gambling tips regarding the 2006 eCOGRA Global Online Gambler Survey, we discussed the statistical findings in the report which showed that gamblers who played multiple poker tables at the same time, tended to have a better success rate than those players who limited themselves to just one table. Evidence also suggested that the success rates for multi-table players tends to drop back down when more than four tables are played at the same time.

eCOGRA conceded that more research needs to be done in this area in order to offer anything more specific and substantial. For instance, even though the survey was the largest sampling of casino gamblers and poker players to date, the evidence suggesting that winnings begin to drop down when playing more than four tables, is directly reflective of the sampling of players. More research would be needed regarding these players level of skill and the skill of players they were playing against in order to qualify the type of poker players who may fare better playing more than four poker tables.

One such player was interviewed in a recent newspaper column. Playing nine poker tables at once in several different casinos poker rooms, this player has had a successful track record, netting nearly $50,000 in winnings last year. According to the news article, the player characterized himself as a computer nerd of the video gaming generation. He also compared the skill of bouncing back and forth from poker table to poker table as like dealing with short bursts of information and moving on - much as one might do in a brain teaser.

Certainly, not everybody is good at doing brain teasers. And certainly not everybody is going to be successful managing nine poker tables at once. Obviously, it takes a certain type of person to be able to handle nine poker tables at the the same time. If you are thinking about giving it a shot, we strongly advise that you first begin with two tables and work your way up playing with play money in a practice account. Then, if you experience success, you can make the conversion to real stakes. The majority of online casinos and poker rooms will allow you to open a free practice account with unlimited credits. We advise bettors to take advantage of this opportunity.
