When we decided to take a closer
look at the findings of the eCOGRA Global Gambler Report, we had no idea how
much insight we were actually going to gain on specific topics relevant to the
players. In case you are wondering, the eCOGRA Global Gambler Report was drawn
up resulting from the largest and most comprehensive survey of internet gamblers
to date. The breadth of the findings have proven to be tremendously beneficial
to software developers, online casino site operators, and players alike.
Following the publication of the survey, we thought it would be a good idea to
present a series of tips based on the findings. Little did we know that one
single topic could unfold into a series of tips on its own. Well, this is
precisely what has happened in regards to the topic of achieving financial
success in the casinos and
online poker rooms.
The report showed several correlations
between specific gambling behaviors/attitudes, types of gambling and achieving
more or less financial success. Specifically, the report confirmed that more
gamblers achieved financial success in the poker rooms than they did in the
online casinos. Although this can be attributed to a number of factors, and is
by no means a scientific law, one of the more interesting suggestions lending to
greater financial success was a correlation with listening to music, which we
discussed in our previous tip.
Some of the factors that appear to be likely
contributors to more financial success in the poker room than in the casino was
the fact that poker players statistically hop around more from site to site to
take advantage of more bonuses (with easier wager requirements) and player
referral bonuses. Considering internet poker is a social game, two friends
simply need to refer one another to different sites and they will both qualify
for free bonus money.
Another reason why poker players tend to bounce around
from room to room is so that other players do not have as good a chance at
learning their playing style. Just when one thinks they are getting pinned, they
can either cash out and move on to another room, or, keep the account open and
simply open another account at a different poker room. If you enjoy playing
poker on the Web, there certainly is something to be gleaned from these
findings.
