Playing Multiple
Online Poker Tables Simultaneously

WriterIf you have been following our most recent series of tips
derived from the findings of the eCOGRA Global Online Gambler Survey, you should be
well aware that we have exhausted the topic of achieving financial success in
the online casino. And indeed, there are several factors which players should pay
attention to in order to give themselves a better chance of protecting against
losses and winning more money in the long run. We advise all players to consider
these over.
Lending online casino gamblers even more helpful knowledge were the
findings of the eCOGRA report specifically correlating winnings with playing
internet poker. In a previous tip we discussed some of the possible factors that may lead
to this phenomenon, and mentioned the fact that poker players tended to move
around between several online poker rooms (thus not giving other players a good chance
of pinning down their betting behaviors) than gamblers did amongst online
casinos. A link was also made with the fact that poker gamblers go after more
free cash bonuses.
Overall, the survey showed that those poker players who
tended to fare better financially were less inclined to chase after losses, were
more inclined to gamble at more sites, would often listen to music while
playing, would play for financial reasons rather than for entertainment or
relaxation, would gamble more often, viewed the game of poker as a game of skill
(rather than a game of chance), played with smaller percentages of their
bankroll at any given time and played at multiple tables during a single betting
session.
Particularly interesting about these correlations is the matter of
playing multiple tables at a single time. A long debate amongst online poker
players is whether it is more wise to play a single table and pay attention to
the behaviors of other players or spread out one's resources over several tables
at once. Not just a generalized finding, the survey had enough input to to put
the cap at which profitability began to go down at four simultaneous tables.
While this does indeed present a good case for the multi-table poker players,
more research still needs to be done regarding the skill level of each player
and the poker strategy behaviors of those players who tended to play a single table at
a time.
