Choose an Online Casino for More Than the Bonus
by Mike Harrison, Strategy and Games Writer

We talk a lot about online casino bonuses here at OCC. Being one of the more important deciding factors in choosing a gaming host to open an account with, bonuses sometimes unfortunately become the only factor influencing a gamblers selection of an online casino.

So much so does this happen, that according to the 2006 eCOGRA Global Internet Gambler Report, over 75% of internet gamblers say that bonuses and promotions chiefly dictate which online casinos they gamble at. Of course, when other necessary prerequisites have been met by two equally appearing gaming sites, choosing one over the other based on the bonuses and promotions being offered is understandable.

However, before even thinking about the free cash bonus, players should first determine where an online casino is licensed at, what software developer powers their gaming platform, and the reputation of the software regulator and gaming site itself. After having given close attention to customer service (what do other players have to say), the available types of deposit and withdrawal methods accepted by the cashier, and monthly payout percentages, take a look at the new sign-up bonuses being offered by contending casinos.

Not going so far to say that bonus offering should be the least of one's concern, because let's face it, free money is free money (the less red tape the better), players should never open a real money internet gambling account on the sole grounds of how much free bonus money is being offered.

Carefully weighing a site's software and reputation in terms of handling payouts and providing customer service is more important than how large the new sign-up bonus is. And if you thought the phrase "if it looks to good to be true, then it probably is" does not apply in this case, think again. Free cash bonuses are usually wrapped with all kinds of red tape that you should look into as well.
