Slots are often thought of as a game that only requires luck, and that cannot be played with any form of strategy whatsoever.  While it is true that playing slot machines in the online casino is not the same as implementing the Basic Strategy at the blackjack tables, there actually are several things a gambler can do to shave the House Edge and extend their bankroll.

Whether betting in a land-based or online casino, slots players need to do their research ahead of time and find where the best slot payout percentages are.  On the internet, you only need to check a casinos website for a full listing of payout reports. Do not settle for anything less than 95%. 

Once you have chosen a place to gamble at, a good bankroll management strategy is this:  Pick a denomination you are comfortable gambling.  When you have wagered half of your bankroll, tabulate your winnings to see where you stand.  If your bankroll is half or less than what you started with, you should go down to betting a denomination lower than what you were wagering before.  If your bankroll is near or above what you began with, continue betting with the same denomination until you have wagered half of what your original bankroll was.  Again, stop to tabulate your winnings and repeat the process.
