Choosing Download or No-Download Flash Online Casinos
by Mike Harrison, Strategy and Games Writer

Online casinos come in two forms these days - Download and no-download online casinos. The majority of internet gamers opt to take the download route simply because it is offered more than Flash software. Very few casinos offer Flash alone, while some offer both, and the vast majority just offer download versions.

Gaming sites tend to pick the download version over the Flash version primarily because of two reasons. The first reason is that a software download is just that - downloaded on one's computer. Having the software virtually installed is a bonus for casino operators because it means that players will likely come back to gamble again simply because the software will be available on one's computer. It serves as a pleasant reminder that betting can be had at any time, if you will.

This is not to say that the software is permanently installed and cannot be removed by the player. When the software is initially installed, the installation wizard will specify the location of the download and installation files on one's hard drive. By default, this location is usually on the computer's main hard drive, such as the C Drive. Mac user's unfortunately do not have the option of downloadable online casinos, although there are certain gaming sites currently developing such a thing.

The second reason why downloadable software is more readily available is that it offers a more stable internet connection, and oftentimes, more games than the download version will have. Again, this does not mean that Flash software is unsafe to play on or that disconnections frequently take place. The security measures and transaction protocols are exactly the same as those used on downloadable online casino software.

As for the connection issue, if you have high speed internet and a relatively fast computer, you will likely not experience disconnects anyways. The plus side of Flash software is that it can be accessed very quickly and does not take up operating space on one's computer. So, for all you Mac user's out there disappointed that downloadable gaming software is not yet readily available, don't worry, you are not missing out on much.
