In our previous tip, we briefly discussed the importance
of reading the Terms and Conditions before signing up to
open an account at a gaming site. Consider this a follow
up. If you have read a gaming site's terms and
conditions before, you might have felt a little
overwhelmed. Oftentimes bordering on "lawyer talk" the
T&C's can get pretty wordy. Despite this, everything that
is being said is important.
Most online casinos break
their Terms and Conditions down into sections. The first
part is usually about the player's responsibilities. This
section will cover a player's rights to open an account
and use the software, as well as casino bonus terms. Here is where you will read that
only one account per player, per household, per internet i.p. address, per credit card etc. can be opened. This is
very important! Oftentimes, players read this part over,
then go off to allow a family member to open an account
with the same credit card. When it comes time to cash out
a withdrawal, the request is denied because their are two
accounts registered under the same household and/or credit
card.
This practice of one account per household is a
universal one, so you shouldn't even bother looking for
another place to open an account with in order to finagle
two accounts. It can't be done. This section also states
that player's are not permitted to allow third parties to
access their account - even to play for fun. Again, if you
are caught doing so, it could warrant the online casino to
freeze your account and block access to the software
platform.
Another important section in the terms and
conditions covers the gaming sites legal policies. This
may be split up into different sections, however, a few
universal terms are laid out in this section. This
includes stating the legal age to open an account, as well
as a disclaimer that it is each player's responsibility to
determine the legality of gambling on the internet from
the jurisdiction in which he/she resides. Basically,
the casino owners are protecting themselves from getting into
trouble if you do.
The legal policies also set forth the
indemnification of the website owners, meaning you can't
sue them for whatever reason, or that your account can be
legally closed for any reason whatsoever. Sound unfair?
Well, in a way it is. However, this is strictly stated so
that the online casino is covered by every possible scenario.
The
best sites will not resort to shutting down accounts for
any reason whatsoever because they know this is bad business. However,
there are some sites that do. These are the one's that get
blacklisted. We will go further into this point in our
next tip "Don't Gamble at Online Casinos Who Hide Behind Their
Terms and Conditions".
