2006 World Cup Group of Death

When the listing of teams for Group C of the 2006 World Cup in Germany first came out, it was called the "Group of Death", which is not surprising, considering the quality of clubs composing it.

Obviously, Argentina is considered the favorite in this group, although Ivory Coast cannot be underrated.  These two teams face each other from the get got, which should be a good match.  The test for Ivory Coast will be whether they can handle the pressure of facing such a good team as Argentina from the very beginning.

As for the other two teams, Holland and Serbia, Holland is currently the favorite.  With a fantastic offensive team full of raw talent, Holland has great potential of executing a non-stoppable offensive front; However, it is their defense that remains questionable, and which could be the Achilles Heel for this very talented squad.

Serbia is an all-around good team with experience that will help them in the long run.  They were very impressive during qualification rounds, and have proven they are a contender in the 2006 World Cup.

Still, Holland is the favorite, with Argentina really only being given a small advantage.  If the final match-up in this round ends of being Holland and Argentina, fans and bettors can expect this to be a very close and competitive game.
