Punto Banco
Rules are Much Like BaccaratIf you are a fan of online
baccarat, you will likely be interested in Punto Banco,
which is available at many online casinos. With no
optional plays, and six decks of cards that operate by a
fixed set of rules according to Atlantic City odds, the
online version of Punto Banco is a refreshing change for
baccarat players still seeking the same odds they are used
to receiving with the regular table game of baccarat.
In Punto Banco, an extra cut-card is inserted seven cards
from the bottom of the stack. Just like baccarat, a hand
of Punto Banco begins with two cards being dealt to a
Player Hand and a Banker Hand. The hand
totaling the closest to nine points is deemed the winner,
and all affiliated bets on that hand are paid out
accordingly.
Although most pros will advise against
it, players also have the option, just like in regular
baccarat, to bet on a tie hand, which pays out 8 to 1
odds. Third cards are dealt according to the Third
Card Rule, which says that if the Banker hand is 0 to 7,
the Player Hand will draw a third card and no more.
If either hand holds an eight or nine (natural) the other
hand will not be permitted to draw.
As is expected, Punto Banco allows very high stakes, with chip
denominations often reaching $500 per chip at the best
online casinos. Players will find lower stakes of
the online version of this game and baccarat, as opposed
to the higher stakes traditionally found at brick 'n
mortar casinos.
