Building off of our previous gambling tip regarding the posting of blinds at the poker table, the following tip gives some more insight on the options a player has when posting blinds at the online poker table.

On the internet, players sometimes have the option of clicking on a button that will permit them to wait until it is their natural turn to post the big blind, rather than playing a hand immediately after joining the table. While it is often recommended for players to be patient and wait it out in this fashion, there is another action players can take, which has some good advantages to it.

As soon as the dealer button passes your seat, join the game (you will have to post the big blind).  As far as cutting down the frequency of posting the big blind when joining the table at any time other than when the button is at your seat, this is the most ideal position to join the game, for it will take several more hands for the button to make it all the way around the poker table and back to you again. Additionally, this is a strategic move, for the blind seats have the disadvantage of holding an early position to act after the flop has occurred.

When entering the game in late position, you will have the choice to check or raise, and will be two positions from the last seat to act.  This works great in the online poker room, although in land-based casinos players who are already sitting at the table are not permitted to wait to be dealt in until after the blind has passed.  However, it is a great way to return back to the table after taking a break, which is permitted.
