If you are seeking to play roulette at an online casino,
there are several options worth considering. First and
foremost is the type of software being used. Depending on
the make of the software, their might be more or less
different roulette versions available. For discerning
gamblers - and discerning roulette enthusiasts at that - a
software developer's repertoire of games is an important
consideration.
For instance, the best software makers,
such as Microgaming, Vegas Technology and Real Time
Gaming, offer American, European and French roulette in
their game lobbies, while certain other software makers
out there may just offer one version. Of course, the
American Roulette version is a good one to stay away from
anyways, simply because the
Roulette Casinos Edge is higher than it
is for its European counterpart. However, at online
casinos using Roulette-friendly software platforms, like Microgaming, you will generally come across at least five
different versions of roulette (not every Microgaming site
is going to offer the same download package).
While inside
the games lobby, as you scroll your mouse over the
different game selections, you should see a pop-up screen
come up to the right of the lobby charting the different
rules and playing options. For Roulette, this should
include whether it is progressive or not, if it has Zeros
on the board, if La Partage is offered, if Call Bets are
offered, and the payouts for Straight up, Square,
Red/Black, Line, Dozens, Split, Even/Odd, Street and Hi/Lo
(1-18 or 19-36) bets.
Five common versions
of roulette found at
Microgaming
casinos are American, European, European
Gold, French and Roulette Royale. As far as payouts go,
they will be the same amongst all versions. American
Roulette only differs in that it offers Double Zero (00)
on its wheel. Roulette Royale differs from the rest of the
pack in that it offers a progressive bet. French Roulette
is distinguishable by the fact that it offers the La
Partage rule and Call Bets. As for European Roulette and
European Gold, the Gold version offers Call Bets, while
the regular version does not. American and European
Roulette only differ in that American offers the Double
Zero and European does not.
In our next tips we will go
into more detail about the differences between French
Roulette and European Gold, Call Bets and Neighbor
Bets, as well as some of the
different playing options offered at games of roulette on
the Microgaming software platform. Here's to spinning the
wheel!
