Learn the Rules of Casino Games in Their Virtual Form
by Mike Harrison, Strategy and Games Writer

If you have ever wanted to learn how to play a new casino game, you have probably considered multiple options on how to do so. Although many games can be picked up in a matter of minutes or hours, to fully master a game is another story altogether (especially when it comes to learning more complicated games or those that can be advantageously played with a strategy). Craps and Blackjack would certainly fall into this category.

One of the most popular methods of learning a new game is to purchase a book and a deck of cards. Some players may even be so inclined to purchase a miniature table or take private lessons. And then again, you may not even have to do any of these and just learn the old-fashioned way - jump into a live game and learn as you go. And while the latter is not recommended while playing with real money, it is a great way to learn as part of a regular practice routine.

If you are planning on taking your newly learned skills to the internet and testing them out at an online casino, there is another option you should consider. Since virtual casinos offer virtual versions of their games, there are certain components of these games that can only be learned via the computer (such as how to place a bet, raise/lower stakes, take back a bet, etc.).

It may be a good idea to familiarize yourself with the act of playing a new game at the computer while you actually learn the rules and/or strategy of the new game itself. Players often overlook the fact that betting online is different than say playing with a deck of tangible cards in your hands. Although nothing changes in terms of the rules or strategy, looking at a computer screen can be a little disconcerting if you have only played the casino game in hands-on mode and are still considered a newbie.

The goal should be to get comfortable enough playing the physical version of a game that making the conversion to an online betting environment won't be as jarring, or, to simply learn the new game in its virtual form from day one of your training. Whether you buy a game specific CD or download, or play the free version of a game offered at online casinos, learning the ropes in a virtual environment is the smart thing to do.
