Doing All One Can to Improve Online Baccarat Strategy

Baccarat, and its close cousin and friend, Mini-Baccarat, are very popular games in both the brick'n mortar and internet gambling worlds. And while there is more protocol that goes into playing baccarat at land-based destinations (such as dress code, high betting stake minimums and behavior etiquette), Web-based Baccarat players tend to be more common these days.

Mini-Baccarat is essentially the same game as regular Baccarat, except that stakes are lower and there is no rotation of the banker from player to player (which can help to bring the House Edge down, yet, puts more strain on one's bankroll).  Both games are essentially games of chance when compared to more strategy-based games like blackjack.  However, Baccarat and Mini-Baccarat both afford players the opportunity to play with some strategy, not to mention baccarat systems that players either swear for or are strongly opposed to.

In terms of strategy, players are advised to stick with bets on the Banker Hand, for this returns a lower House Edge than the Player Hand does.  At odds that correlate to a 44.61% chance of winning (winning Banker Hand bets must pay a 5% commission to the House) this is the best bet at the baccarat table, and should be the primary bet one makes when sitting down to the table (Remember to keep a wad of backup money for paying out the House at the end of a betting session, for the 5% commission is usually due when leaves the table).

Another good strategy tip is not to bet on the Tie bet, even if it seems like a nice gesture when it is offered.  This is the worst bet at the baccarat table, and comes with a House Edge of 14% and payout odds of 1 to 8.

In terms of betting systems, we can only say that they work for some players, and have proven to be a disaster for others.  Systems like the Martingales do require a high risk factor, but do statistically show there is some merit in their application.

The best thing a baccarat player can do to help their play is (aside from paying big bucks for a baccarat software system), players can download free baccarat software hand analysis shareware programs.  Especially if the baccarat software program has a trial period (before you pay), it is not going to hurt to try the software out and prove to yourself whether the card counting capabilities it performs is of good use to your style of play.
