Beating the Online Poker Rake
Beating the rake at poker is a great way to help
one's bankroll thrive over a longer period of time.
Some players do not bother with trying to cut
down on rake costs, believing there is no way to
actually "beat the rake". However, just like
successful money management skills will not say how
much one specifically saves by using them, they help
a player save money, regardless of what a player may
think about their bankroll.
The two best ways to beat the rake are to fold as
early on as possible, before having to pay the rake,
which usually comes in later betting rounds when the
pot has reached a certain size, and by being aware
of one's seating position.
Those players who try to steal the blinds and buy
free cards from the first and last seating positions
respectively, often try to exploit tighter players.
One of the best ways to beat the rake is by letting
these aggressive players think they are going to win
- But surprise them by staying in. They end up
losing to the rake, and you win a large jackpot that
won't go towards offsetting previous rake losses
because you are playing a tight game.
