Downloadable
Online Mac Casinos Can be Hard to Find

We recently received an email from a player looking
for an online casino that was compatible with a Mac
using Safari for internet access. Surprisingly,
considering the increasing number of Macintosh
computer owners on the market (these days largely
fueled by the enormous success of the Apple iPod),
the truth of the matter is there are hardly any
downloadable online casinos that are compatible with
Mac operating systems.
Most Mac user's have
had to get by settling for Flash software, which
many times, only requires an additional download of
Active X controls. While no-download Flash software
is an acceptable substitute (Flash offers the same
standard of security, fairness and account
protecting as downloadable software), downloadable
casinos often offer more options than Flash, such as
more game choices and slightly better graphical
interfaces.
The ubiquitous presence
of Window's operating systems set the standards for
software manufacturers, and so Mac user's have been
left to settle for second best.
Admittedly, there are a
handful of online casinos and poker rooms compatible
with Mac. When we say handful, we mean very, very
few compared to how many Windows compatible gaming
sites there are. And to be honest, many of these
startup Mac sites do not have good reputations, and
are improperly regulated. We recently blacklisted
one of them - Lady Dream Casino.
That being said, Mac
user's should consider opening accounts at gaming
sites using Microgaming. They are an industry leader
in providing realistic graphics and secure
connections via their Flash gaming software. In the
near future (hopefully any day now) the online
casino,
Davinci's Gold, will offer a downloadable Mac
casino, complete with a full array of betting games
and their unique interactive iSlots.
