The Benefits of Playing Coin-less Casino Slot Machines
by Mike Harrison, Strategy and Games Writer  Bookmark with del.icio.us

Online casino gamblers need not concern themselves with putting coins into a slot machine, for everything in the virtual world is done with the click of a mouse. And while the way of going coin-less on the Web is facilitated by the Web itself, even land-based casino gamblers are hardly ever faced with the option of physically putting coins into a slot machine.

These days, slot machines are no longer referred to as slot machines. Oftentimes offering multiple games via a single LCD screen, the most modern slot machines are more aptly referred to as Electronic Gaming Devices (EGD) or Video Gaming Devices (VGD).

Because of tremendous advances in technology it is quite feasible in the near future that coin slot machines will be entirely phased out. It should be understandable why more and more casinos are making the transition to coin-less slot machines (California and Connecticut have gone coin-less). Not only does doing so save time and money, it is in each players advantage to play on coin-less machines as well.

First, players have the option of staking multiple denominations without having to cash out and move to another machine. Secondly, players no longer have to wait for a hopper fill when cashing out. Thirdly, although some players do not seem to mind this one, there is no handling of all those germ-covered coins. The conveniences alone are enough good reason to play coin-less EGD's over traditional coin-fed slot machines.

As far as gaming hosts are concerned, it only makes sense to go with EGD's. Not only do they help cut back on employee overhead in the cashier's cage, the chances of having an idle machine at peak times is far less likely. Players also tend to spend more money at coin-less machines, which can be safeguarded against by disciplining oneself to press the Spin button at a slower pace. Sip your drink, chat with your neighbor and remember to let yourself be entertained.

If playing in the online casinos, give yourself some web-surfing time or get engaged in some instant chat with a gambling buddy. Remember that just because you are not physically putting coins in the machine, does not make your bets any different.
