Common Game Restrictions for Online Casino Bonuses
by Mike Harrison, Strategy and Games Writer

In our previous internet gambling tip to cap off the month of January, we discussed cash bonuses, and how reload bonuses may or may not be suitable for players returning to make additional deposits with an online casino. Depending on the terms and conditions of the bonus, which include wager requirements, possible gaming restrictions, withdrawal limitations and potentially all kinds of red tape and fine writing, a free cash bonus is not always in a player's best interest.

One of the first things a player should investigate about a bonus are the game restrictions. For example, it is not uncommon to find online casinos offering welcome bonuses that can only be withdrawn when the wager requirement is met by playing online slot machines. Some sites go one step further and offer two separate welcome bonuses - one for slot machines, and the other for table games (usually excluding certain forms of blackjack).

As for what we like to call the overall bonus, this type of free cash bonus will allow the wager requirement to be met by playing all games, with the condition that each game contributes a different percentage. For instance, bets made at games with a higher Casinos Edge typically will count 100% toward meeting the wager requirement, while bets made at games with a low House Edge (such as blackjack or craps), will count a lower percentage, say around 10%.

Let us say the wager requirement is to gamble 30x on a $100 bonus. This equates to betting $3,000 in stakes before being eligible to withdraw the bonus. If you were to play a game that contributed 10%, then for every $1 wagered, only $.10 would go to meeting the $3,000 play-through. Obviously, it makes sense to select a bonus that is suited to the casino games you will likely be playing.

After you have determined what the game restrictions are for a potential free cash bonus, you should then verify what the actual wager requirement (play-through) is. Two equal gaming sites offering bonuses with acceptable game restrictions and different wager requirements could very well be the deciding factor on who you open an account with.

In our next tip to start off the month of February 2007, we will go over yet even more bonus terms and conditions that players should be the know about.
