Obtaining a lottery ticket is not a difficult thing to do.  In fact, most lotteries around the world will let bettors buy their tickets online.  Whether you do indeed obtain your tickets over the internet or walk into a local store, the process is the same.

The very first thing you do is pick your numbers.  All lotteries will have a piece of paper called a playslip, which is composed of small numbered boxes covering a set range of numbers (usually 1 thru 53).  Each group of fifty-three numbers is called a board or panel, with usually up to ten panels on a single playslip.  Depending on the specific lottery game your are playing, you will then select the appropriate amount of numbers you want by marking the corresponding boxes with a pencil.  For big lotteries, you will mark six numbers, with a chance for a bonus prize by marking a seventh.  Each panel is considered a ticket, while selected bonus numbers usually cost the price of an additional ticket.

After selecting your numbers, you will then decide on how many times you want to play that specific group of numbers.  Many lotteries will allow gamblers to play up to a years worth of drawings.  However, if playing your numbers twice a week for a year is too many bets for you, simply mark in the appropriate box (which will be labeled) how many times you want to play your numbers.  Most tickets will also give you the option of placing your numbers twice or once a week.

When you are finished marking your ticket, take it to the cashier to have it printed out.  If you are unclear about filling out the ticket in any way, simply tell the cashier, who will very likely know how to set the ticket the way you want. As for the online version, the way to purchase your tickets is just the same, except that you will be directed to an eCommerce mediator to make the payment over the internet with a valid debit card.
