Identifying Signs of Gambling Addiction

Obtaining money is the primary objective of many human beings.  Whether it is from necessity for survival, a desire to amass material wealth, or even philanthropic purposes, great stock and power is put into money on a universal scale.  As such, gambling for money poses a great temptation to many people, and has a great capacity to turn into an addiction.

Surprisingly, most gamblers who have an addiction realize they have have one, which is precisely the root of the addiction.  Even though they know they are addicted, they still cannot stop gambling.  They have no power over their addiction.

This is where the professional help of an organization like Gamblers Anonymous has a great impact.  All one has to do is ask for help and they are well on their way to conquering their addiction.  Simply calling Gamblers Anonymous and reaching out makes a huge difference.

One of the best ways to stop a gambling addiction is to catch the warning sign, and thus prevent it from manifesting in the first place.  Some of these warning signs include:

1. Gambling with money you cannot afford to lose

2. Logging into the online casino every day

3. Canceling or changing plans/appointments to accommodate your online betting sessions

4. Having a hard time stopping gambling when you are winning

5. Chasing after your losses

6. Braking promises to yourself, such as when you promise to cease betting or winning/losing limits

7. Feeling depressed and overly optimistic at extremes and reoccurring intervals.
