Reading Over Online Casino Terms and Conditions
by Colby Lewis, Strategy and Games Writer

Something which many internet gamblers often overlook are the terms and conditions of their online gaming host. Usually quite lengthy, and appearing at first glance to be a large dose of legal jargon, it is not surprising why many players choose to skip over the terms and conditions and put their trust in the online casino - Thinking that if other players gamble there, it must be a fair and reputable place to make wagers.

What these players do not understand is that many of the terms and conditions (T&C's) are always affecting the players experience, and that they are not just about disclaimers of whose held responsible and indemnifying online casinos from getting sued. Rather, T&C's cover a broad range of issues.

For instance, T&C's will always give a declaration of legal gambling age. Some sites require players to be at least eighteen years of age, others require a minimum age of twenty-one, while others simply require the player be of legal gambling age according to the jurisdiction which the player resides in. If you are twenty years of age, it should be clear why it is important to read the T&C's.

Other issues covered in online casino T&C's are policies governing the use of players' names and likeness, contacting players for marketing purposed (some sites allow players to opt for being contacted, maximum daily and weekly withdrawals/deposits, self-exclusion for problem gamblers, and conditions warranting the freezing of accounts and seizure of funds.

Most gaming sites require player's to give their permission to use their first initial and last name, as well as a photo, for means of advertising prizes which the player has won. Some sites go a step further (too far in our opinion), and require players to attend photo shoots, interviews and press releases - and all at the player's expense!

This is precisely why on all of our online casino reviews, we cover the gaming policies of each site, and only publish those reviews which have been deemed fair and reasonable. Whether providing summaries of all the policies, summaries of what we feel are the most important policies, or general disclaimers that the policies are not unreasonable compared to other internet betting sites and gaming regulations, we make certain all players are in the know before opening an account.

At the very least, players should always read the entire T&C's (including promotion terms and conditions), which at legally licensed and regulated online casinos, must be published on their website. They may get wordy at time, but if you take fifteen minutes of your time and slowly read them over, the T&C's will reveal things about your gaming host, which all players should be aware of.
