Gambling Tip of the Month: Putting Stock in
Free Online Casino Games
Just because an online casino offers free casino games and unlimited "play
money" does not mean they will be a viable host when betting with real money.
Most online casinos these days offer players the opportunity to open either/both
real money accounts and practice accounts. For those players who opt to try out
the practice account first, each time logging into the software platform
(whether it be the Flash or downloadable version), they will be prompted with an
opportunity to open a real money account and make a deposit. The whole idea is
to get players to fall in love with their games while posing no risk to one's
bankroll. Understandably, this is a fair and reasonable way to market
themselves. However, just because the free games are wracking in the play money,
does not mean the real games will do the same. There have been some cases in the
past in which online casinos were found to be offering better odds of winning on
their free casino games, than the odds of their real-money games. Of course,
these establishments did not have the proper accreditations that a reputable and
regulated online casino should. The players who took the bait to make a deposit
were initially wowed by their great luck gambling on a "fun" account. Of course,
the odds should have been the same on the real-money platform, but were not so
because of improper regulation and licensing. By only betting at online casinos
who are properly licensed by reputable gambling commissions, who use reputable
software like that of Microgaming, and are endorsed by player protection bodies
like eCOGRA, will players get the same fair odds betting with real money as they
do on the free casino games offering unlimited bankrolls.
