For most people who have never been to Las Vegas
before, the idea of actually going probably includes
images of walking into fancy casinos, going to
nightclubs, seeing shoes, dining out and lounging
around fancy resorts. And while this is a great way
to spend your time in Las Vegas, there are a host of
other activities in and around Sin City. In other
words, it is worth your time and bankroll to mix up
your activities
In addition to
the many free and entertaining attractions in Vegas,
a great way to spread your money out further is by
staying elsewhere than on the Strip. While a stay on
the Strip puts you right in the middle of the
action, downtown Las Vegas, which is a short drive
away, can be just as fun and definitely more
affordable than Strip resorts.
With the money you
save, you could rent a car and save on tax fare,
which you will probably end up needing no matter
where you stay. Sure, the traffic in Vegas can be a
nightmare, bet walking from one end of the Strip to
the other is just too tiresome for some people.
Another great thing about having your own
transportation is that you can easily get out to
surrounding attractions, such as the Grand Canyon
(helicopter tour), the Hoover Dam, outdoor
activities in the Red Rock mountains and local golf
courses.
Even the nightlife and
gambling in downtown Las Vegas can be just as
exciting - and certainly more affordable - than the
nighttime fun on the Strip. The Freemont Street
experience has a free light show and festive
atmosphere like that of a central square. There are
plenty of casino gaming options (lower table stakes)
and affordable food that tastes good too. Remember,
Las Vegas is more than just the Strip.
