Casinos Have the Edge but Don't Win Every Time
by Colby Lewis, Strategy and Games Writer

You might have heard the phrase "The House always wins". Whether it's stated as a defense to abstain from gambling, or as an admonition to watch your bankroll and quit while ahead, the statement simply is not true...at least all of the time.

Taking into consideration the big picture, we will see that the essence of this statement is rooted in truth. In other words, online casinos always comes out ahead in the long run since the odds of all casino games are in favor of the House. While this does not mean that the House is going to beat the player every time (This is where skillful strategy and luck come into the picture), it does mean that if you were to sit at the Blackjack table and play indefinitely, sooner or later the Casinos Edge will consume you bankroll.

Obviously then, there is some great wisdom in the warning to "quit while you are ahead". Although some gamblers will advise you to keep playing as long as you are winning, this is too much of a blanket statement. Of course you should not quit within five minutes of starting a gambling session in an online casino simply because you went up $100 on a $1,000 bankroll. Unless you desperately need that extra $100 (you shouldn't be gambling to begin with if such is the case), use that $100 of profit to keep working for you on the tables.

The key is to have a sense of when you are pushing your luck. Whenever you think you are about to go on a losing streak or find yourself getting frustrated, step away and take a break. Always remember to have fun. And just to modify that opening statement just a bit, "The House always wins in the long run".
