Online Casino Security - Taking Precautions on Land

It is interesting to think that those gamblers who are weary of gambling at online casino sites because of security concerns (like having one's credit card number intercepted or account hacked into) often do no think twice about their security in a brick 'n mortar casino. The reality of the situation is that gambling in a public location can be far more dangerous than processing a financial transaction online.

When playing from one's computer at home, one should keep their username and password stored in a safe area, and should never give it out to other parties. Online casinos are very strict about only allowing one player per account, so do not even share your account information with your own spouse. Only use trusted and certified online casino deposit methods to transfer funds to and from your account, and you will have nothing to fear.

In a land-based casino, however, there are far more dangers you should be wary of.  Although security cameras and security staff members do a good job at rounding up thieves, they can't protect you against every criminal lurking around the tables or banks of slot machines.  Pick pockets abound on casino floors, and will seek out anybody who has won a jackpot or appears to not be aware of their surroundings. Therefore, give yourself the responsibility of protecting your money at all times.

If you have won a considerable amount of money and prefer to continue to gamble, ask the cashier if you can put your money in a deposit box.  When it is time to go home and you have cashed out your winnings, pocket all of your money before stepping away from the cashier counter. It is also a good idea to ask for a casino security guard to escort you to your car or back to your hotel room. If you find yourself in cramped quarters with other gamblers, be aware of people bumping into you.  On that note, be aware of people walking close to you or bumping into you on the gambling floor, for this is how pickpockets hit their mark.

Other precautions you can take are wearing a fanny pack or bag of sorts, and to use the valet service if you are driving.  By no means should you walk out to your car to lock away any winnings you have won.  If you remember the story of lottery winner Jack Whittaker, you should know better. Use caution and sound judgment at all times when playing at a brick 'n mortar casino.
