Capitalize on Winnings and Protect Your Bankroll

A smart way to manage a bankroll is to bet winnings only.  Although this is impossible to do right from the start of a gambling session, it is something worth considering as soon as you go on a winning spree.

Depending on your bet sizes, once you have obtained profit in the amount of at least four times the bet size, start gambling with only your earnings.  If you lose it all, take a break from gambling or move on to a different game.

Let's say you are betting $5 hands at blackjack with a $100 bankroll.  In the beginning, your bankroll may fluctuate from the negative to positive, but as soon as you are up to $160, put that initial $100 to the side (as if it was never there) and start gambling with your $60 profit in an effort to build it up even larger.  If you lose all of the $60, consider stepping away from the blackjack table and taking a break.

This is a good practice to get into, for not only will it stretch out your gambling sessions, it will keep you from being tempted to chase after losses.
