Here at Online Casino Conditions, we like to review brick
'n mortar land-based gambling destinations around the
world. As always, one of the hotspots is Las Vegas. More
specifically, the locals gaming market is seeing a surge
in new resort destination properties for out-of-towners.
A
casino that often gets overlooked in Vegas, but is
actually a gem in the middle of the Nevada desert, is
Silverton. On its way to becoming a Las Vegas destination
resort, Silverton remodeled its rooms in 2004, put $25
million in renovations toward their property in 2006 alone
and is planning to start a $500 million expansion in June
of this year. Located in close proximity to both McCarran
International Airport and Las Vegas Boulevard (the Strip),
Silverton offers a great alternative to the business and
congestion of the Strip. Furthermore, Silverton is themed
on a modern hip vibe integrated with an outdoor, lodging
theme that has helped mark it as one of the better local
Las Vegas Casinos.
Although not quite as prized as Green
Valley Ranch or the highly touted Red Rock Resort,
Silverton will certainly be by the end of 2009, which is
when their $500 Million expansion is scheduled to be
complete. A 25-story hotel tower with 360 rooms is planned
to go up, along with a 30,000 square foot gambling
expansion, an 1,800 square foot parking garage, 25,000
square foot restaurant, pool, lounge, concert
amphitheatre, entertainment venue, convention center, and
a $15 million spa.
Current rooms are planned for
renovation once again, which management promises will be
just as good as the fanciest suites on the Strip.
Silverton already has five restaurants, hip lounges and
one of the largest tropical fish aquariums in the world.
Holding over 118,000 gallons of water and viewable from
three sides, the aquarium features an interactive fish
feeding and mermaid show every day. There is also a large
neon lit jellyfish aquarium and several fresh water
aquariums resembling real Nevada trout streams and Red
Rock Canyon waterways.
With the upcoming expansion on the
way, Silverton will certainly be a viable option for out
of town visitors who either cannot find good space on the
Strip or simply do not want to be on it. If you are tired
of logging into the online casinos and want to experience
the real thing in Las Vegas, you should definitely give
Silverton a chance.
