Online Gamblers in Support of Internet Betting in the U.S.
by Mike Harrison, Strategy and Games Writer

If you have not heard the news already, the fight to legalize online casino gambling in the U.S. is definitely on. House Financial Services Committee Chairman, Barney Frank, has published the first draft of the Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act of 2007, which will be debated by the Committee at a date yet to be determined in June. Online gamblers are already encouraging one another to support the issue.

Proponents of legalizing online betting in the U.S are getting their voice heard and helping to keep the momentum of this legislation moving forward. For U.S. citizens, there has never been a better time to help in getting the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act overturned. Players are apparently writing letters and emails to their local House Representatives and State Senators, informing them of their support for the Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act of 2007.

Considering that Democracy is supposed to be voice of the people, the more people there are speaking out about their right to gamble at online casinos, play poker and make sports bets, it would seem the more willing politicians would be for voting in favor of a bill on their behalf. Unfortunately, the bottom line is that politicians often only vote in favor of the issues which they believe will get them reelected.

Sometimes it is not enough for the people to vote on a poll or survey or to sign a ballot about a particular issue. Although this still helps indeed, Congressional officials need to hear that people strongly care about the issue. They need to repeatedly hear from their constituents that people are passionate about the issue. Apparently, those who are passionate about internet gambling at online casinos and all forms of betting on the Web, are letting their representatives know about it.

Supporters of the bill are advising U.S. players to be specific. The Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act, if passed, will give individual State's the right to decide on what forms of internet betting they are willing to regulate. Therefore, those players who are fond of poker or playing casino slots, are being encouraged to express just that. Players are also being encouraged to back their statements with substantial reasons. Rather than simply declaring that it is one's Constitutional right to bet on the Web, players are being advised to state why they like to gamble in the first place and how internet betting makes a positive contribution in their life.
