How to Read
Sportsbook Odds for Betting
Before placing a bet at an online sportsbook, you
need to be familiar with the different kinds of odds
types that online sports books tend to use.
Especially when using a
new online bookmaker service, the way in which odds
are presented, as well as how you place your bets,
can be confusing. There is cause to say that
before even depositing money you should read all the
rules governing betting procedures at a particular
gambling site.
In addition to finding
out how to place bets, you need to investigate the
types of depositing and withdrawal systems used at
the online cashier. This may include services
like MoneyBookers and Neteller - all of which you
should thoroughly be familiar with before using.
After doing so, the
next most important thing is to school yourself on
how to read the odds posted online. You will
typically come across three different kinds of odds:
Decimal Odds (European style), UK odds (Fraction
format), and the American Format (posted in positive
or negative fashion). For details on
understanding how these odds read, please see the
rest of this months gambling tips subsequently
presented in the April Tips index.
