Terms Part V - "Marker Puck" Through "Proposition
Bets"
In the next to last installment of our Craps Glossary, we cover the terms
ranging from Marker Puck to Proposition Bets.
Marker Puck - A small plastic disk used at land-based casinos, with the
words "off" and "on" printed on either side, which is placed on the craps table
to designate whether the shooter has established the point (on) or not (off). In
online casinos, the marker puck shows up as well - usually as a small white
circle at the top of the table.
Midnight - This is a single bet predicting the next dice roll will be a
twelve.
Natural - When the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 on their come out roll.
Odds Bet - A wager that does not have any Casino Edge.
Off - Pertaining to bets which are safe despite the next dice roll (such as
a buy bet made before the come out roll).
One Roll Bets - A general classification for the many types of bets that can
be placed on the craps table that are played out with a single roll of the dice.
Out 7 - Whenever a 7 is rolled after the point has been established.
Outside Numbers - These are the numbers 4,5,9 and 10 designating the place
bets at the top of the craps table (5,6,8 and 9 are the inside numbers, with the
5 and 9 being classified as both, depending on which other numbers they are
being bet with).
Parlay - This is when a player lets their winning bet ride on the table.
Pass Line - Also referred to as the Front Line, this is the area on the
craps table that is marked "Pass Line" and is where casino chips for this bet
are placed.
Pass Line Bet - A bet made in favor (with) the shooter that they will either
roll a 7 on the come out or establish and hit their point number.
Place Bet - This is bet predicting one of the place numbers at the top of
the table (4,5,6,8,9 or 10) will be rolled before the shooter rolls a 7 (like a
buy bet but without the 5% commission).
Place Numbers - These are the numbers at the top of the craps table -
4,5,6,8,9 and 10.
Playing the Field - When a field bet is made (one roll bet), predicting
the very next dice roll will hit either a 2,3,4,9,10,11 or 12.
Point Number - Whenever the shooter rolls a 4,5,6,8,9 or 10 on the come out
roll, this number is said to be the point, and must be rolled again before
rolling a 7 in order for the shooter to win.
Press a Bet - Another phrase for a parlay, it is when one doubles their bet
already on the craps table; Proposition Bets - Also called Center Bets,
this is the box of Hardway and One-Roll bets in the center of the table.
