Online Casino Conditions >>> Atlantic City Blackjack Rules

In addition to the going by the rules for standard blackjack, here are some areas in which the rules may vary. The rules for Atlantic City Blackjack are as follows:

General Playing Rules:

  • Atlantic City Blackjack is played with eight 52-card decks. At online casinos, spent cards are reshuffled back into the deck after every hand, thereby ending the efficacy of card counting.

  • Being a Hole card game, the dealer must check for blackjack if initially dealt a 10 or Ace. If the dealer has Blackjack, the game is over.

  • The dealer always stands on a 17, including a Soft 17, which is an Ace and a 6. Players can receive up to nine additional cards (eleven cards total) after which the hand must stand.

  • Late Surrender is allowed.

Betting Structure and Payouts:

  • Blackjack is paid out with 3 to 2 odds (some casinos may try to skimp on 6 to 5).

  • Push bets (ties) are returned to the player.

  • Any time the dealer hits a blackjack, even if the player splits or doubles down, all wagers are lost to the casino.

Splitting Hands:

  • Splitting of Aces is allowed (once), although a ten card draw on top of one or both of the split Aces (21 hand value) does not count as Blackjack. Split Aces are only dealt one additional card - in the same fashion of doubling down.

  • Splitting of ten-value cards that hit 21 after being split likewise do not count as Blackjack.

  • Three splits total are permitted, resulting in a maximum of four hands per game.

  • Doubling Down is allowed after a split hand.

Insurance:

  • Insurance cannot be taken on a Split hand or one that has been doubled down.

  • Insurance pays out 2 to 1 if the dealer hits Blackjack

  • The insurance bet is always equal to half the amount of the original wager.

  • Insurance can only be taken if the dealer's face-up card is an Ace.
