It's very rare these days for anyone to hear of poker bots being used at top online poker rooms. More aptly called "unauthorized software", poker bots are employed by players to gamble on their behalf with the use artificial intelligence in order to oust their human competitors, and in effect, steal their money with more sharpened, strategic playing skills. Well, this is precisely what happened recently at Full Tilt Poker according to several gambling forum boards at the Poker-King portal site.

While no online poker room is entirely safe and exempt from newly developed cheating software programs from slipping through the cracks, it is a general sentiment amongst players that bots are something to worry over. Simply because of the fact that Full Tilt's security team was able to pinpoint this most recent string of but usage backs this sentiment up. Although it was after the fact, all players who lost money as a direct result of playing against the bots are to be given full refunds.

No details have been given as to how much money is being refunded, yet it has been reported that Full Tilt Poker has frozen multiple accounts and seized corresponding funds which will be divvied back to players according to a formula using the number of hands played against the bots and the amount of funds lost in the equation.

Depending on how you choose to look at it, this case has the potential of bringing good light to Full Tilt Poker. In addition to the fact their security team was able to bust the bots, their honesty in refunding players affected by the scheme shows honesty and good intentions, and may carry a long way in regards to player trust. The bots were first detected in Heads up games of Limit Hold'em, which prompted a lengthy, site-wide investigation.
