Renowned online casino,
Inter Casino, and sister site,
Inter Poker, have
successfully obtained gaming licenses from the Maltese Lotteries and Gambling
Authority. Formerly licensed in Curacao, Inter Casino recently scrambled to get
licensed by the Malta government when the UK Department of Culture, Media and
Sport announced that online casinos licensed in Curacao would not be included on
the UK "online casino white list", which dictates who can and cannot
advertise their online gambling services in England.
Good thing for Inter Casino they had a backup plan just in case Curacao was left
off of the white list. While this does not mean that Curacao is an illegitimate
regulator of online casinos, it certainly is a testament that the UK Gambling
Commission has set a new standard in the ethics and responsibilities of gambling
online. In the case of Curacao, the UK Gambling Commission essentially does not
consider all of Curacao's gaming policies, including underage and problem
gambling prevention standards, to par with its own precedent setting policies.
As
for Inter Casino, they have always held a grand reputation with UK players and
with bettors around the world for that matter. One of the first online casinos
to set up shop (back in 1997), Inter Casino has built a large player foster and
has been home to some of the largest jackpots ever won on the Web.
In
response to the new licensing in Malta, Inter Casino could have handled things
better, to say the least. Expressing their reasons for changing licensing
jurisdictions, Inter Casino was not forthright. In a company press release, it
was stated that in order to ensure their customers would be betting with the
full knowledge the casino was licensed in a premiere online gaming jurisdiction,
the decision to obtain a Maltese license was made. In reality, we all know it
was solely because Inter Casino wants to advertise in the UK. And advertise they
will do. Inter Casino has made it clear they plan to launch the largest online
gambling advertising campaign to date.
