Online Casino Portal Delivers IGREA Initiative to U.S. Congress

In a move to stir up support of Congressman Frank's Internet Gambling Regulation Enforcement Act, members of the popular online casino gambling portal, CasinoGamblingWeb, drew up a petition called the IGREA Initiative and hand-delivered the 435 informational packets to every U.S. Congress Representative last week. Answering the call by Congressman Frank to express support for online gambling regulation in the U.S., CasinoGamblingWeb is now calling on players to do the same.

Now that members of Congress have the IGREA brought to their attention and somewhat branded, if you will, now is the time to follow up and keep the issue from getting cold. Following the House Financial Services Committee talks regarding the IGREA several months ago, the bill has lost momentum because of a lack of support from members of Congress. Although it is far from dead, it needs to be revitalized if there is any hope of it getting introduced on the House during the next Congressional session.

The IGREA Initiative packets contained a lengthy petition for repealing the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act passed last year, as well as summary citing 10 reasons why online gambling should be legalized and regulated in the U.S. Also included in the packets were compact discs with recorded testimony of the House Financial Services Committee hearings - which apparently shed a favorable light on the technology and safeguards of web-based gaming operations.

A spokesperson for CasinoGamblingWeb said it truly is up to the 15-25 U.S. online gamblers to express their support for the IGREA if they want to see online casinos and poker rooms regulated in the U.S. While U.S. citizens are apparently still able to gamble online, depending on the site of course, things will be much easier when regulation mandates are in place.
