Massachusetts Governor on the Verge of
Approving Casino Gambling
In the U.S. land based casino gambling
industry, all eyes have been on Massachusetts
of late. Governor Deval Patrick returns to
office the first week of September, while
shortly thereafter, it is predicted he will
announce his support to bring casino gambling
into Massachusetts. Although there is
speculation the Governor could motion against
gambling, looking at the condition of the
State budget and unrealized public works,
Governor Patrick is likely to approve some
form of gambling to one extent or another.
What he decides to approve is the largest
mystery of all - one which apparently only his
closes inside advisors know about. There are
rumors a casino could go up in Boston, that
the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe could get a
casino, and that the Mohegan Sun Resort may
even build a multi-billion casino resort in
Massachusetts. Currently, the state has one
riverboat casino, two dog tracks and two race
tracks, which brings up another possibility -
bringing Class III casino gaming to existing
race tracks.
