In Detroit, Michigan, there are some things that simply just are. One of these is sports. Detroiters are notorious for being avid supporters of their favorite sports teams, whether it be the Pistons, Lions, Tigers, Red Wings or NASCAR. Casino Windsor, which is a Canadian riverfront casino, is just twenty-one miles away and a twenty-five minute drive from the heart of Detroit. A highly touted casino and resort, offering the same accommodations one would get at Las Vegas casino resorts, Windsor decided it was due time to build a multi-million sportsbook called the Legends Sports Lounge - the only thing really missing from their all-around betting experience. Windsor is currently undergoing a $400 million expansion and renovation that includes new gaming and convention space, retail facilities, a 5,000 entertainment complex and a new 22-story tower with over 400 room accommodations, and a 2,370 square foot motor coach lounge.

As for the Legends Sports Lounge, it is expected to be very popular throughout the year, being comprised of one-hundred-seventy seats and thirty-six video screens to showcase different live sport events, including professional football, baseball, hockey, basketball and NCAA college and football. Keeping with the sports theme of the lounge, casino bettors can order stadium-style food like hot dogs, chicken wings and hamburgers.

Although Windsor is not the first Canadian casino to offer live sports wagering (Casino Niagara Falls in Ontario is operating a relatively new sports betting lounge valued in the neighborhood of $10 million), Legend Sports Lounge will be the first sportsbook that Detroit residents will have direct and practically immediate access to. Gaming executives and analysts are very confident the lounge will be a big hit with not only regular casino players at Windsor, they think it will also draw an entire new crowd of avid sports bettors. It is scheduled to open this Friday.
