Online poker room, Superior Poker, is in hot water of sorts following a
string of emails that were sent to a large number of players belonging to online
poker casino and sportsbook, VIP.com. Although Superior Poker has not taken
credit for being the source of the emails, VIP has allegedly gotten hold of at
least one of the messages, which is telling in itself.
Apparently the message
falsely informs players that VIP has been closed due to recent U.S. legislation,
and will no longer accept U.S. players. It then goes on to urge the email
recipients to bet on casino games at Superior Poker.
VIP's CEO, Alistair Asheton informed a well-known online casino watchdog site
about the emails, who is currently investigating the matter. VIP has also
emailed all of their clientele warning them about the emails and clearing up any
misconceptions that players may have regarding VIP's status on accepting U.S.
gamblers. Asheton also reported that the spam emails were being received by
players located in several different jurisdictions other than the U.S.
Benefit of the doubt must be given to Superior Poker for the time being,
considering that an affiliate of the online poker room could have very well
sent the spam emails. However, even if that turns out to be the case, Superior
Poker must be held responsible for the actions of its partners and
representatives. If nothing is done to reprimand the individuals for this type
of unethical business practice, Superior Poker must be held responsible.
Most
industry insiders agree that it would be unfortunate for such a Kahnawake
licensed online gaming site to not only act in such an unprofessional manner,
but to disobey ethical gaming practices upheld by Kahnawake's Gaming Commission.
