Bodog has come a long way from its humble
beginnings as an online sportsbook. Not only has their online gaming and
entertainment name brand successfully developed online casino and poker
offerings, they have successfully traversed into into the world of lifestyle
entertainment. Sub-branded sites, Bodog Beat and Bodog Nation offer
entertainment news, babes, video games and more, while sites like Bodog Music
and Bodog Fighting each offer their own entertainment catering to twenty through
forty-something males.
Bodog's most recent entertainment offering comes
via a partnership with Sierra Entertainment to help promote the video game,
Scarface: The World Is Yours. Based on the classic film, the video game was
recently developed by Radical Entertainment, which is a gaming studio under the
Sierra Entertainment name. Having acquired a licensing agreement with Universal
Studios, the game is said to parallel the film and the character of Scarface,
who according to Bodog founder, Calvin Ayre, represents an underground anti-hero
to many fans of the movie.
Ayre himself will be featured in the game (as a
non-playable character) while several Bodog spots have been incorporated into
the game as well, including, Bodog roadside billboards, a Bodog branded
all-terrain vehicle that Scarface gets around in, and Bodog branded online
casino slot machines and video pokers that can be played to acquire in-game
points.
Bodog will be promoting the game on its online
music site, which features several Bodog sponsored bands (whose music,
incidentally, is used in the game as well), and will be giving out free copies
to lucky contestants in the Bodog community. As part of the online promotion, a
grand prize winner will receive a trip for two to Costa Rica, where the Bodog
mansion is located. The winners will get to live like "Tony Montana", which one
can only expect would be a life of casino gambling, girls and rock-n-roll.
