Renowned resort developer, Eighth Wonder Ltd. is
not the only one hoping their proposal to build an integrated resort complex in
Singapore gets approved. Also mixed in the deal is Melco PBL Entertainment
(owner and operator of Crown Macau Casino Resort scheduled to open in April of
next year) and Isle of Capri Casinos, who would have the honors of the
developing a casino fit to cater to what is expected to be a very large turnout
of Asian gamblers on Sentosa Island in Singapore.
The original agreement between the powerhouse
companies now includes a provision that will give equity ownership to Meco PBL,
who will be responsible for managing the casino and all gambling related
amenities at the resort if the proposal is accepted by Singapore gaming
authorities. Isle of Capri Casinos will now participate in a revenue sharing
agreement in addition to their former stake in the resort's equity. Eighth
Wonder is spearheading the entire project, bringing their Las Vegas roots to the
world of Asian gambling.
As for Melco PBL, they are a tremendous asset for
the consortium due to their experience and insight about the Asian casino
gambling industry. Isle of Capri Casinos Chief Operating Officer, Timothy
Hinkley, referred to the newfound partnership with Melco PBL as an excellent
source for helping fine-tune their bid to the expectations and requirements of
the Singapore Government. The relationship between Eighth Wonder and Isle of
Capri will be strengthened even further into what could very be a long-standing
business partnership if the casino proposal is approved.
