The newly vamped casino sportsbook at Green Valley Ranch Resort in Las Vegas
has been getting lots of attention since its fantastic upgrade using a slight
variation of the same technology that Station Casinos' recently opened Red Rock
Resort is currently implementing. Although Station Casinos VP of Race and Sports
Operations, Art Manteris, would not say how much the upgrade cost, considering
the new sportsbook is three times the size of the old one, contains 170 seats,
not to mention 32 larger alcoves for VIP clientele, one could confidently
surmise the cost was in the millions.
What is so special about Green Valley's facility is the efficiency, real-time
technological innovations and grandeur of the sportsbook itself. With five
different split screen 11' x 22' rear projection panels, all of which can be
programmed and controlled by a single, mini touch screen, bettors are bombarded
with what-you-see-is-what-you-get images updated in real time. This is a
fantastic perk for serious sports bettors, for what would often happen in the
past is that fast-changing odds would need to be handwritten by casino
employees, and would sometimes updated after the fact. In other words, players
would lay odds on numbers which had already changed.
In addition to instant sports odds (which are now automatically updated by
computers), the programmable screens can be split into smaller screens, which
can then be used to broadcast several sporting events, or even promotional
announcements for the casino itself. And with horse races and football games
that are larger than life, the new Green Valley Ranch Casino Sportsbook also
offers a new level of entertainment and fun, which many gambling enthusiasts are
expecting other casino sportsbooks to do the same. In the meantime, Station
Casinos is planning to implement the same technology in a few more of their own
resorts, although they have not said which one's would get the first upgrade.
