Online Sportsbook Bodog Supports
NBA Players in Dress "Decode"
Casino Conditions StaffIt
seems the new dress code the National Basketball
Association is imposing on its players is upsetting
more than just the players.
One of the internet's leading online casino sportsbooks, Bodog.com, has
voiced their own objection in the form of donations, so to speak. Calvin
Ayre, the founder of Bodog went out on a limb, which could prove to be a
precarious one, by pledging to match all fines imposed on NBA players for
violating the dress code this season.
It all began when Allen Iverson was slapped with a fine after violating the
code (which states that all NBA players and must wear business-casual clothing
whenever taking part in a team or league related event, including arriving and
leaving games and representing their teams or league through promotional
events). After hearing the news, which many fans and players think is
downright silly, Bodog stepped up to the plate by extending an offer to Iverson
that the online sportsbook would reimburse him for the fine. Bodog went on
to extend the offer to all players in the NBA.
If Iverson passes up the offer, Ayre said his company will offer to pay the
amount of the fine to the players charity of choice, which happens to be the
Crossover Foundation - an inner city youth support group for Philadelphia
adolescents.
Whether this is a promotional stunt by Ayre or that he truly feels empathy
for the players, the bottom line is that with the support of a well known online
sportsbook, the news against the NBA will surely get out there to the fans.
