Casino News Article of the Month: New Zealand Lotteries Commission to Announce the Approval of Online Lottery Ticket Sales

New Zealand could be making way for online lottery ticket sales, pending an announcement later this week by the New Zealand Lotteries Commission whether at-home lottery ticket purchases will or will not be allowed via the internet. Those officials in the midst of writing the proposal are saying, that at this point, it looks highly likely the Commission will give a green light to the new system, which would still need a written set of guidelines and rules in place to monitor and regulate the online procedures. In effect, this would enable lottery players to safely and securely purchase tickets from their computers at home, just as they would by walking into a retailer and purchasing a lotto quick pick. Of course, opposition to the proposal has been openly expressed, citing that those with tendencies for gambling addiction will be more at risk. Notwithstanding the fact that these same problem gamblers are confronted with the opportunity to purchase a lottery ticket every time they step foot into a retail convenience store, the Lotteries Commission says they will be looking at all of the arguments relating to the issue. Todd McLeay, who is the Chief Executive Officer of the New Zealand Lotteries Commission, said the Commission will be working hand-in-hand with several governmental agencies to insure the most advanced safeguards and security protocols are put into place.
