The Hollywood Casino in Mississippi is beginning to draw in a steady stream of bettors following its renovation and brand new poker room. In terms of land-based poker rooms, Hollywood Casinos Gulf Coast room is assuredly on the map now, and is getting the attention of dedicated and professional poker players. This six table poker room recently started hosting three weekly tournaments every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, many of which have been running throughout the evening into the early morning hours the following day.

Beginning at 11 a.m. on Monday's and 10 a.m. on Fridays, Hollywood Casino is hosting No-Limit Hold'em Freeze-Out tournaments, while the Wednesday tournaments are for No-Limit Hold'em Re-Buy, and begin at 6 p.m. Allegedly, these are the tournaments that have been oftentimes lasting all night long. With a $10 re-buy to stay in the game, players are staying around longer in hopes of holding out for a share of the big jackpot. Speaking of big jackpots, the No-Limit Hold'em Freeze-Out has a Bad Beat jackpot valued at over $20,000, and is becoming so popular that players who normally would not even get up as early as 10 or 11 a.m. are doing so anyhow.

The poker room manager for Hollywood Casino, Troy Barraco, expressed his pleasure with how things are turning out so far in a region still feeling the aftereffects of Hurricane Katrina. Barraco also extended an invitation to anybody interested in learning how to play poker to come out to the casinos free poker lessons every Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. With hands-on experience and no obligation to play with real money, players can build their confidence in their playing skills and possibly decide to enter the rated tournaments at a later time, for which they will earn comp points and discounted rates for staying in the casino hotel.

With 291 guest rooms, there is plenty of room for anyone looking to extend their stay at Hollywood Casino overnight. Over 17,000 square feet of indoor space, nine private meeting rooms, nine-hundred brand new slot machines, twenty table games and a brand new six table poker room, make Hollywood Casino in Mississippi one of the hottest new places for gambling entertainment on the Gulf Coast today.
