Casino Operators All Ears at Global Gaming Expo Player Talkback

As reported by the Las Vegas Sun, the recent Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas was a great chance for regular casino gamblers to voice their concerns, needs and desires for an enjoyable casino gambling experience. The one-hour talkback session, which brought together casino managers, slot machine manufactures and forty regular Las Vegas gamblers, turned out to be a highlight of the Global Gaming Expo.

Amongst the other gaming seminars and workshops at the Expo, which included computer hacking, remote gambling technology, slot machine testing protocols and global casino gambling trends, the player talkback session turned out to be the most lively and productive in the eyes of both the players and casino/gaming operators. Overall, there was a sentiment from the players of getting betting comps, less junk mailings and more entertaining slot machines.

One player said she feels cheated when it costs more to fill her car up in gasoline than getting comps in the form of free drinks and cheap trinkets, while another player said he is turned off when a casino promotes a new slot machine, but in reality, the game has been released on the market far too long to be called "new" anymore. In other words, the more a casino tries to sugarcoat things and take the player's intelligence for granted, the more the casino loses credibility and valued trust from the players.

A major concern for some players are the prospects of introducing new server based slot games. With the necessary technology in place, casino operators will be able to change odds and rotate games at the touch of a button. While the notions of new games and frequently rotating themes is a plus in players' eyes, the fact that operators can change the payouts anytime they wanted too (such is the nature of server-based games) was cause for concern for most players. All in all, the casinos would still be required to meet minimum payout percentages - they could just have more selection as to which players get paid out. Harrah's is currently running a test trial at a tribal casino. Harrah's reps were also at the talkback, amongst several other industry executives who cordially took notes as the players expressed their views.
