The world's largest online exchange betting
platform, BetFair, is pleased to announce the outcome of the company sponsored,
BetFair Asian Poker Tour, The tournament came to a close in Singapore earlier
this week, with UK poker professional and poker room owner, Tony Guoga,
manhandling the final table with aggressive and strategic play.
Taking $451,700 from the pot, Guoga will be giving
half of it to charities which are soon to be announced. Second place
pocketed $233,200, and went to local favorite Joshua Ang, who found a way to
stay alive longer than the rest of the eight other players sitting at the table.
The excitement at the table was very high,
considering Ang's presence in front of his home town crowd. Samuel Lehtonen, was
the chip leader from the previous day, but was overcome by noted pro Lee Nelson,
who also gave Ang and Guoga a strong challenge.Nelson finished with $102,000,
Lehtonen went home with $87,400, while the remaining six players at the table
each took home a fair portion - the least of which was $17,500 for tenth place.
Guoga took home the pot when he went all-in after the flop and hit a second ten,
giving hi a Pair, which beat Ang's Ace-Jack.
Guoga's generosity truly shined at the table. In
addition to pledging half of his winnings to Asian and Australian charities, he
gave his Merlion trophy - symbolic of Singapore - to hometown hero Ang, who very
well could have taken first place if only he had drawn a high Pair on the final
hand. Ang graciously accepted the trophy and promised he would bring it with him
to next year's BetFair Asian Poker Tour in Singapore.
