Online Casinos not Worried About Cheaters
Casino Conditions Staff

Everyone knows that cheating has been around as long as gambling has existed.  Both brick 'n mortar and online casinos have recognized this fact and have always accepted it as part of the business.  Likewise, they have accepted that in order to keep it from happening, safeguards must be taken.  Land-based casinos do everything from hiding video cameras to posting undercover floor persons.  As for online casinos, it gets a little more tricky to monitor everybody who is gambling, for the virtual world is much larger and carries much larger potential for cheats to work their little tricks.

Now that one of the industry's most turned to expert on cheating, Richard Marcus, is saying that the cheats are ahead of the game, several online casinos are making plans to allocate more funds for adopting more prevention and monitoring measures to help gain ground on these ever-enterprising cheats.  The ploy that many cheaters are using now is in the big online poker rooms that usually also operate casino games of some sort.  What is being done is that players are using software which plays for them.  In other words, you might be playing against computers.  And although this could very easily backfire, and does not seem like it would be possible for these systems to call bluffs or use other strategy techniques, Mr. Marcus says that the technology is out there.

Marcus went on to report that some players are using software that can potentially tap into the casinos software operations and read what cards other players at the same poker table have been dealt.  Whether these accusations are true or not has not been verified by any online casino operators - and definitely not the cheats themselves!  However, poker rooms like Party Poker have openly addressed their concerns towards cheating.

In response to Marcus' findings, a Party Poker spokesperson said that all the players in their poker room are live players, not computer systems - and that their security team, which monitors table action around the clock, is very capable of sniffing out cheats.  Recognizing that cheaters are developing this type of technology, Party Poker also reported they are also developing new software applications and systems to detect cheating at an even finer tune.
